When you are not working what do you like to get up to?
Working in real estate is a very time consuming career. I work up to 12 hours a day for my clients and never rest until the property is sold and they can move forward with their dreams. When I take time off I like to be doing something on the beautiful Port hacking river, boating, paddling or swimming. My other great chase is a low handicap at golf. I like getting out early in the morning when the dew is on the ground, smelling the grass and watching the wildlife. It’s the greatest part of the day.
What makes a good agent?
Building great relationships with people. This business is all about relationships. We run a business with long term vision. What that means is meeting strangers, making friends with them and one day they become our customers. Its takes time but that’s what we love to do. The other important thing is that our agents are highly skilled in sales and negotiations, when we price a property our clients get the truth, when we sell a property our buyers get the truth, we may under promise, but we certainly over deliver. Just another important discipline to building long term relationships with our customers.
What's the best thing about being an agent in this area?
I really like working in the Shire. I have met so many good people who appreciate our strong business ethics. This was quite evident when we were selected to handle the sale of 10 large luxury 2 million dollar apartments in Yowie Bay. We were working for some very high profile business people and it came down to trust. We delivered outstanding results. The other enjoyable thing about the shire is the continuous flow of families coming through our open houses looking for dream homes and great lifestyles for their children. The kids just love some of the properties we sell and you can see them dreaming about swimming in the pool and inviting friends over. The best thing about that is one lovely family moves out and another lovely family is ready to move in. It’s perfect every time.
What's unique about the local market?
The local market is so diverse. We have all sorts of real estate and I was only saying just the other day, there are some unbelievably large blocks of land with older homes on them where Shire families have lived there all their life. It’s sad to see them sell but it’s obvious they become much too hard to manage. We are lucky, we get to see so many different buyers and so many different sellers across waterfronts, large luxury homes, older cottages, villas, townhouses and then the young couples starting out in their first home unit. It’s just great to see the progression and downsizing all mixed in together. Every day is different.
In your opinion, where is the next hot spot to buy?
The shire would be the correct answer, however there is certainly something about South Caringbah. There is an unbelievable mix of old and new properties and an even greater mix of renovation styles and designs. New houses are the order of the day where the old ones once stood, but it’s the new design features that are making the big statements in the market and I have been just blown away with some of the properties I see. There is no doubt real estate ‘south’ of President Avenue and the Kingsway is in big demand. North Caringbah is going to out perform the rest. Watch this space…
